All-Saints Tournament, 2011

Well it's been a while since my last post. I haven't had a lot of time since I was trying to finish up everything with school and graduation. But, now that I'm graduated and still without a full time job, I have all the free time in the world, which means more time for this blog. Lucky you!

Anyway, a couple weeks ago, the SCSU men and women's rugby teams hosted the annual All-Saints Rugby Tournament. It had been over 10 years since the Fighting Carp (SCSU's men's team) had gotten first place in the tournament, but this year we finally did it and it was probably the best going away present I could have gotten since it was my last weekend with the Carp. But, the main event of this blog post is this video compilation that I put together of the rugby action from that weekend. Enjoy!

And as an added bonus, here's another quick video clip.

Interview With A Rugby Player

Welcome back to another exciting post on the Chris Wagner Blog. This post is once again thanks to my TV production class which never ceases to provide me with bloggable content. For this assignment, we had to shoot an interview on a topic of our choice along with b-roll to go with it. What I am about to show you is some of the footage that didn't quite make it into the final product. Once again, the video quality is poor (apparently I'm not very good with the cameras we have to use), but it's an entertaining video nonetheless. I hope you enjoy it and stop back soon for the finished interview which will likely be much less exciting.

A Snapshot of St. Cloud

I know what you're thinking, "Two posts in one week!? How could I get so lucky!?" Yes, I know, you are incredibly lucky. I was going to wait and post this in a week or so but I got bored and decided to post it now.

This semester I am taking a television production class as an elective and it tuned out to be pretty fun. The first project is a "music video" which basically means that we had to shoot video set to music. I chose to use the song "I Am Lincoln" by Steve Jablonsky from the movie The Island and I shot video from around the city of St. Cloud.

A few disclaimers before you watch: This was my first time using the cameras that we used as well as my first time really using the editing program Final Cut Pro. As such, the video is not perfect. A lot of my footage turned out to be much brighter than I thought it would be as I shot it. However, even though some of the shots are too bright, I still like the idea of what I shot (plus it is set to an epic song, so that helps). Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and while you're at it, check out my other Youtube videos.

Me Memes

Well it's been nearly a month since my last post, which means it's been about a month since anything blog-worthy has happened in my life. But, due to a weekend of fun and adventure in the Twin Cities, that has changed.

It seems whenever my friends and I have an adventure in Minneapolis, we follow the same traditions. These traditions are looking damn good when we go out on the town, and spending one day miserably hungover at the Mall of America. These two traditions also tend to generate some interesting pictures.

Claymation Fun

Well, it's been a while since my last blog post (plus I need a reason to procrastinate my homework for a little longer) so I figured I'd share with everyone my experimenting with stop motion animation.

Now, I actually uploaded this video to Youtube a week or two ago, but I hadn't blogged about it. I used my new camera that I received for Christmas to take the photos, and let me tell you, stop motion animation is harder than it looks. I ended up using the camera freehand (without a tripod or anything to hold it still) which was my first mistake. Also, I chose a space with limited access (a small window sill) to shoot the video, which was my second mistake. The whole thing is pretty short but it's a fun little video that I enjoyed making and people who have seen it have given it positive feedback, though I think I can do better. I'll let you watch and decide for yourself. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Thanks for watching and I hope you liked it. I hope to continue experimenting with stop motion animation, but with school starting back up I haven't had much time to do blog-related fun stuff. Keep checking back for new posts and I'll see if I can do something fun to show you guys.

Winter Weather War

Well, as promised, I have video of our very first winter airsoft battle. It's more a highlight reel than anything because I didn't get a lot of continuous action video, but I enjoy it nonetheless. The day would have been a lot more fun had my gun not malfunctioned, but it was happening to a lot of people. I guess that's just what happens when its cold. I suppose it wasn't all bad though because it allowed me to more easily record the video. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I hope you will be too.

I hope everyone enjoyed that. Let me know what you think in the comments. More pictures and videos on the way so be sure to stop back later!

Never Too Old for a PJ Party

Well as my winter break from school is fast approaching its end, I have collected a great many pictures and videos to share with my vast* blog audience. For this particular post, I have a video taken from the pajama party thrown by my good friend Tyler Glass (with help from his friends and family, of course). It should be noted that this video was taken close to the end of the night (somewhere around 2:00am, as far as anyone knows). After many hours of too much fun, this is what becomes of my friends and me. Enjoy!
Anyway, thanks for watching. I'm gonna get back to making other videos that I have recently taken so be sure to stop back soon and check them out!
*The term "vast" is an exaggeration and in no way is a true descriptor for this blog's audience.
